Wayne W. Hopp, 64, of Eau Claire died on Monday, November 17, 2008, at his home after a long battle with cancer, with his family by his side. He was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on November 18, 1943, the son of Warren and Winnifred (Peloquin) Hopp.\r\nWayne grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Mason City High School in Mason City, IA.\r\nHe served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Through the years, he always kept in contact with his Marine Corps friends, who were a special part of his life. \r\nWayne married Jane M. Guenther on April 26, 1969, in Cuba City, WI.\r\nHe worked as a truck driver for Reinhart Foods for many years until his retirement in 1999.\r\nWayne enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He loved walking and bike riding with his special granddaughter, Megan, who had a very special place in his heart. Wayne enjoyed going to the casino and playing cribbage with his wife Jane. They had many good laughs and loved spending time with each other. Wayne had a great laugh and a big heart. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. \r\nHe was a Past Commander of VFW Post # 7232 in Eau Claire.\r\nWayne is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Heidi (Greg) Kunz of Augusta; his granddaughter, Megan Kunz of Augusta; brother, Jim (Cookie) Johnson of Chippewa Falls; sister, Winnifred (Roger) Jergenson of La Crosse; sister-in-law, Arlene (Dean) Hugdahl of Racine, WI; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Christopher.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside honors. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.\r\nThe family would like to thank St. Joseph's Hospice for all of their support.\r\n
