Obituary

Wayne William Kronenberg, of Eau Claire, was born on September 14, 1918, in the town of Clear Creek, Wisconsin and died on July 27, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. He was the oldest child of Frank and Mary (Bruckner) Kronenberg. Wayne graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1936. He started working at what was then the U.S. Rubber plant in 1938 and worked there until being drafted into the United States Army in 1942. Wayne served in the Pacific Theater, primarily in Australia, until his honorable discharge in 1945. Wayne returned to Eau Claire and resumed working at the U.S. Rubber Plant.Wayne married Rita Marie Eder on October 6, 1956, at St. John's Catholic Church in Cooks Valley, Wisconsin. Wayne and Rita raised their four children on Eau Claire's north side. Wayne and Rita were founding members of St. Olaf's Catholic Church, where they remained life long members.Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary, wife Rita, brother Donald (Barbara Dean), sister-in-law Marjorie (Harold) and brother-in-law Dennis (Nancy) Dahl.Wayne is survived by his son Dan (Sandy), daughter Jean (Brad Hugdahl), son John and son Greg (Gina). Wayne is also survived by his brothers Harold and Harvey, sister Nancy Dahl, sister-in-law Barbara Dean and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was blessed with and loved his five grandchildren, Brandon, Kaitlin, Isabelle, Ava and Charles.Wayne loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and fishing in the Minong area. His greatest joy was watching others around him enjoying themselves. Wayne loved attending his children's and grandchildren's school and athletic activities. Wayne was a loving and generous man, who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010, at St. Olaf Catholic Church with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday July 29, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at Church. There will be a 7 p.m. Public Vigil Prayer Service Thursday at the funeral home.Family would like to express their thanks to the 7th floor patient care staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and the staff at Grace Edgewood Assisted Living in Altoona.In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Grace Lutheran Foundation, 822 Porter Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701
