Obituary

WAYNE E. STRAND, 83, of 2011 Emery St., died Saturday, November 28, 1998 in the Elk Mound township, Dunn County. He was born June 7, 1915 in Poskin, Wisconsin to George and Lillian (Lindgren) Strand and moved to Eau Claire as a young boy. Wayne served in the U.S. Army in the African Theatre during World War II, and was honorably discharged on November 27, 1945.\r\nHe married Gwendolyn Paape in 1946 and they resided in Eau Claire. Wayne married Rosemary Harelson on October 5, 1965 in Center City, MN. He worked 34 years for Sterling Pulp and Paper until his retirement in 1980. \r\nHe was a life member of D.A.V. Chapter #10, American Legion Post #53, and V.F.W. Post #305.\r\nSurvivors include three sons, Ron (Janet) and Denny (Nina) both of Eau Claire, and Doug (Michelle) of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Kathy (Mark) Strandberg of Mondovi; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.\r\nWayne was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary in 1990; his parents; a grandson, Dickie Anderson; a step-son, Cliff Harelson; and his sister, Margie Kinseth.\r\nFuneral Services were held today, December 1st, at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Rev. Janis Carole Best officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery where V.F.W. Post # 305 conducted military graveside rites.
