Obituary

Wilfred J. Velie, 83, of Eau Claire died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital.\r\nHe was born in Eau Claire on July 29, 1924, the son of George and Olga (Smith) Velie. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School.\r\nWilfred married Annabelle J. Klemmer on October 28, 1950, at Sacred Heart Rectory in Eau Claire.\r\nHe served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an air traffic controller in Guam during WWII until his honorable discharge.\r\nWilfred had worked at National Presto Industries. He then worked as a Sheet Metal worker for Hovelands until his retirement.\r\nWilfred and Annabelle loved to go ballroom dancing together. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed amateur radio, and had enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends\r\nWilfred is survived by his wife, Annabelle; a brother, Robert (Adelyne) Velie of Ozark, MO; and many nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George (Clarabelle) and Ernest (Ruth) Velie; and two sisters, Doris (Doyle) Dascher and Lucille (Lamoine) Dascher.\r\nFuneral services will be held at Noon Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Sister Judie Wagener officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire, where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.\r\n
