William R. "Bill" Heimstead, 85, of Eau Claire, Town of Wheaton, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at his residence. Bill was born in Eau Claire on July 7, 1927, a son of Frank and Mable (Lee) Heimstead. Bill graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School. Bill had farmed on the family farm for many years and also worked as sheet metal worker for Erv Smith Heating & Air Conditioning in Eau Claire. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 18 for 52 years, joining the union in 1960. Bill was a lifetime member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. Bill is survived by his sister, Irene Heimstead of Eau Claire; brother, LaMoine (Mavis) Heimstead of Eau Claire; and several nieces and nephews. Bill is also survived by his faithful dog, "Shep". He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Douglas Heimstead and James Heimstead. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 3031 Epiphany St. in Eau Claire with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
