William "Bill" J. Bauer, Jr., 82, of Elk Mound, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, after a good, long, full life. Bill was born October 6, 1932, in Eau Claire, WI, to William J. and Elizabeth (Preissl) Bauer, Sr. Bill graduated from St. Patrick High School in 1950. Bill married Janet M. Shilts on January 21, 1956. They were married 59 years. Bill worked at the Northern Center in Chippewa Falls for 27 years as a bricklayer and was a longstanding member of the bricklayers union and farmed as a hobby. Bill is survived by his wife, Janet; three children, Elizabeth Robert of Eau Claire, Christopher (Cheryl) Bauer of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Jayne (Mike) Desorcie of Rochester, MN; five siblings, Pauline Hagman, Jerome (Sharon) Bauer, Margaret Colbenson, Julie Orr, and John (Judy) Bauer; three in-laws, Roger (Janet) Shilts, Shirley Kleist, and Thomas Shilts; six grandchildren, Kristin Robert, Kirk Robert, Jr., Blake Robert, Briana Bauer, Andrew Desorcie and Benjamin Bauer; and two great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Jamison; and Special Caregiver, Mary Anderson. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Anthony, Terry, and Benjamin; and sisters, Mary and Loretta. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Mound, WI, with Father Joseph Nakwah officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home West Chapel, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., in Eau Claire, WI. There will be NO visitation prior to the Mass, Thursday, at the church.
