William L. Jacobson, 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at his home. He was born September 2, 1922, in Eau Claire, WI, to Oscar and Benelia (Wagnild) Jacobson. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High in 1940 and joined the WI National Guard Calvary. He later enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served from 1943 to 1944 as a Captain, Bombadier, and Pilot, in the CBI theater of WWII and was honorably discharged in 1947. He attended Holister Junior College, CA, and Gradwahl School of Laboratory Medicine, St. Louis, MO. He worked as a Chief Medical Technologist at Sacred Heart Hospital for 37 years. He married Maryellen Looby in 1964. William is survived by his wife; son, Gen. James Jacobson (Nancy) of Scott AFB; daughter, Jane Hoesley (Gregg) of La Crosse, WI; sons, William T. (Wendy) of California, and Jeff (Karen) of California; grandchildren, Ian and Siena of Scott AFB, Aaron, Erik and Emily of California, Katie of California, and Michael Atkinson (Brenda) of Washington; step-grandchildren, Trevor and Taylor Hoesley; great-grandchildren, Shane and Azia Atkinson; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ginny and Pat Purdiak, Larry and Jeanne Looby, Richard and Doris Looby; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Peter; daughter, Portia; siblings and their spouses, Alyce (Paul) Bailey, Sylvester (Marion), Vernon (Virginia), and Rychard (Jeanette); mother and father-in-law, Bea and Gerald Looby; and first wife, Georgia Hromadnik. His wife and children would like to thank St. Joseph's Home Health Care and Hospice for their care of William; volunteer, Gary Paulson; and William's neighbors, friends and family for their support. Being able to fly were his happiest times so watch for an airplane with a dipped wing greeting. Burial will be at a later date in the spring at Spring Brook Lutheran Cemetery in Dunn County with family and friends.
