WILLIAM A. "BILL" KAROW, 83, of Eau Claire, died Monday, October 22, 2001 at Luther Hospital. He was born on August 4, 1918 in the Town of Bridge Creek, near Augusta, to Frank and Alma (Bundt) Karow. On March 10, 1950, Bill married Eldora L. Knutson in Stillwater, MN, and they made their home in Eau Claire where they raised their family.\r\nHe served in the U.S. Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in December 1945. Bill worked for over 40 years at Briggs Transportation working his way up from truck driver, to dispatcher, and finally to terminal manger until retiring in 1981.\r\nBill was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #53, and Eau Claire Traffic Club. He enjoyed spending time "Up North" and playing cards with family and friends.\r\nSurvivors include his four children Lorretta (Bernie) Bertrang, Richard (Shirley) Karow, Sharon Karow and Sheryl Karow; five grandchildren, Tracy (Lee) Trippler, Brian (Jessica) Bertrang, Heidi (Guy) Gorton, Lisa Karow and Sarah Karow; two great grandsons, Pierce Trippler and Gunnar Gorton, all of Eau Claire; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Serum and Gladys Loomis both of Mondovi, and Delores (Leon) Risler of Eau Claire; three brothers-in-law, Alvin Knutson, Roy Dean Johnson and Clayton Edison all of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Eldora in 1992; his parents; three brothers, Kermit, Gerald, and Robert; three sisters, Adela Schumacher, Regina Lundgren and infant sister Eldora. \r\nHe will be deeply missed by his family and friends.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.\r\n
