William "Bill" G. Lulloff, of Eau Claire, passed peacefully into God's Kingdom on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 01, 2014. Bill was surrounded by family and loved ones at Oakwood Villa in Altoona, WI, at the time of his passing. He was 83 years old. Bill was born in the town of York, in Clark County, Wisconsin, on May 3, 1931. He was the second child of Frank and Neva (Benedict) Lulloff. Bill was drafted to the US Army, served and was stationed in Austria, from July 1951 to June 1953. After the Army, he returned home to Loyal, where he worked at Bill Relis' IGA. Bill attended Wisconsin State College, Eau Claire, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1963. He completed his Master's Degree in 1974, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Early in his career, Bill was employed in the Waterloo Community and the Chippewa Falls Public Schools. He spent the remainder of his teaching career at North Senior High School in Eau Claire, where he taught Sophomore English. Bill was a teacher who left an indelible mark on his students. In fact, students frequently greeted Bill while he was out with family. On more than one occasion, Bill and his family were greeted by a former student asking, "Hey Mr. Lulloff, do you remember me?" Following his retirement, Bill substitute taught in Eau Claire, Elk Mound and Fall Creek elementary schools. Bill also taught evening outreach courses for Mount Scenario College in Ladysmith, WI. Not only did Bill have a zest for the English language, but he was also a long-term substitute in the Japanese classroom, adding many Japanese greetings to his daily conversations. He was known to answer the phone, "moshi-moshi." Bill was an active member of the Association for Retarded Citizens and acting President in the late 1970's. He had an avid love of radio and spent many hours volunteering for Wisconsin Public Radio. Bill was an avid literature enthusiast and enjoyed the works of Mark Twain and Walt Whitman. He attended the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminars on Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass and Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn in addition to many others. Bill enjoyed collecting books; his collection boasting several first editions of Leaves of Grass, and other various editions of Mark Twain's work. Bill married Delia (Dawson) Lulloff, November 2, 1962, at Lake Street United Methodist Church in Eau Claire. Bill was a loving and devoted father to their three children. His wife Delia, and son, Jon, preceded him in death. Bill married Carol Eacurce at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, in Nashua, Iowa, on June 10, 1989. Bill's family remembers him as a hardworking, loving and gentle man. As a father of three, he was devoted to family. He was often happiest taking his youngest for walks in his wheelchair. Together, they would visit the airport to watch the planes take off and land. Bill was a photography buff and leaves behind a treasure trove of family memories captured in pictures. He would often say no matter how many photos he took, the albums reflected, "Christmas trees and dance recitals." Bill was a teacher of all things; his method simple. His character is the foundation of the family. Bill's life took on a new richness when he met his wife Carol. The pair had a whirl-wind courtship and was married shortly after; sharing 25 very loving years together. With his marriage, Bill's extended family grew to include many additional treasured family members who welcomed him warmly into their lives. Together, they relished the good things in life, including art and music, travel and photography, fine food, friends and family. While he never cultivated the intense relationship of a single best buddy, hunted, or played poker with the boys, the number of people who called Bill friend was immeasurable. Through his long battle with congestive heart failure, Bill maintained a positive outlook and was grounded in making the most of each moment. Carol provided the tender care that Bill required to remain home during his illness. She was the devoted answer to his ringing of the bell no matter the time of day or night. Bill showed strength and love right up until his last hours. In the words of Walt Whitman, "Happiness, not for another place, but for this place, not for another hour, but for this hour." Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Lulloff; brothers-in-law, Robert Seltrecht, Barney Dawson, and Kelly Dawson; sister/brother-in-law, Larry and Kay (Dawson) Durning; and in-laws, Bertrum and Carol (Anderson) Dawson and Marian Rogstad; and friend, "Shorty" Held. In addition to his wife, Carol, Bill is survived by his children, Ginny (William) Rusch, of Antigo, WI, and Timothy (Wendy) Lulloff of Dayton, MN; grandchildren, Andrew (Keisha) Schlub, Alexandra Schlub, Nathanial Lulloff, Nicholas Lulloff; great-grandchildren, Addison Pavek, Brooklyn, and Harper Schlub, and Liam Schlub; sister, Donna Seltrecht; and sisters-in-law, Anita Lulloff and Deborah (Dick) Sazama; many nieces, nephews and their families; as well as, Jan (Ed) Anderson, Dan (Debbie) Market; and Tim (Dixie) Fladhammer. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire. The Funeral Service for Bill will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014, at Lake Street United Methodist Church, 337 Lake St. Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Military Honors will be conducted by the Eau Claire American Legion Post #53 following the service at church. Reverend Graham N. West will be officiating. Interment will take place, following a church luncheon, in the Loyal Cemetery in Loyal, WI.
