William S. McLeod Jr., 84, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home. \r\nHe was born in Eau Claire on March 3, 1924, the son of William and Alice (Hayden) McLeod. \r\nWilliam graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1941. He was drafted into the United States Army until the time of his honorable discharge on May 14, 1943. William then went on to attend Eau Claire Vocational School. \r\nHe married Anna M. Dumars on April 30, 1949, in Eau Claire.\r\nWilliam worked as a bookkeeper and as secretary/treasurer for Fehr Concrete for 46 years until his retirement in 1990. Following retirement, he worked part time as a courier for Charter Bank, and also served as a volunteer for the Paul Bunyan Camp.\r\nWilliam was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, also the Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Eau Claire Thursday Noon. He was a member of Eau Claire Sanctuary Lodge #347 F&AM, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire; the Eau Claire Jaycees; Past President of the Water Street Business Association; and Past President of the Wisconsin Concrete Products Association.\r\nWilliam was very active in community service, but above all he was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family always came first. \r\nWilliam is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anna; four sons, William III (Mary), Charles (Linda), Scott (Beth) and David (Darcy); four daughters, Roxanne (David) Gehring, Catherine (Jack) Van Dong, Jacqueline (Timothy) Jenneman and Jerilynn (Michael) Svoma; fifteen grandchildren, William IV, Rose, Colleen (Chuck) Heinly, Joanna, Mollie McLeod, Matthew, Nathan and Meghan Gehring, MacKenzie McLeod, Caitlin and Shaunna McLeod, Mitchel and Breanna Jenneman, and Michael and Lindsey Svoma; and by a step- grandson, Andrew Davidson. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ in Eau Claire with Rev. David Huber officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and one hour prior to services, Tuesday, at church.
