William A. Peterson, age 81, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017, at home in Jefferson, WI, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. Bill was born on September 16, 1935, in Eau Claire, WI, the son of Alton and Ethel (Olson) Peterson. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army in 1957 and served in the Philippines, receiving an honorable discharge in 1960. Bill was married on September 19, 1964, to Kathlyn Krause at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Kathlyn preceded Bill in death in 2007. They raised their two sons in Madison and Eau Claire. They had been living in the Madison area since 1989. Bill was widely known as an excellent "Mr. Fixit" and built the family home in Eau Claire. He also loved to cook. He had a varied list of employments, but his last one was as a laboratory courier for St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He worked there for 18 years and it was the most enjoyable. Bill's kind nature was reflected in his love for his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, lutefisk dinners, and attending classic car shows. Despite Bill's health conditions the past two years, he enjoyed dining out and talking with his family about their activities and telling his grandsons, Austin and Tyler, about the fun things he did as a child. He is survived by sons, Scott of Madison, WI, and Philip (Lynn) of Shorewood Hills, WI; grandsons, Austin and Tyler Peterson; brother, Steve (Mary Lou) of Juneau, AK; sisters-in-law, Julie Renz and Mary Krause of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Jack (Mary) Krause of Lake Hallie, WI; and nieces and nephews, Drake Peterson, Alaina (Jeremiah) Clinton, Mike (Tami) Renz, Kylee (Kyle) Staebell, Kari (Ryan) Whalen, and Wendy (Shaun) Hathaway. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathlyn; parents-in-law, Julius and Hulda Krause; brothers-in-law, George Renz and David Krause; many aunts and uncles; and nieces, Michelle Peterson and Kristine Lashley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3214 Golf Rd., Eau Claire, with the Rev. Jamie Brieske officiating.
