William "Bill" S. Price, 84, of Menomonie, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. He was born in Mallard, Iowa on June 16, 1922, the son of Willie and Sarah (Loughead) Price. \r\nBill graduated from Loyal High School in Loyal, WI in 1940. During World War II, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge on April 20, 1946. \r\nBill married Caroline A. (Olson) Connell in Merrillan, WI, on November 3, 1949. \r\nHe retired in 1980 after a 25 year career as a truck driver with Janesville Auto Transport Company. \r\nBill and Caroline lived in numerous areas of Wisconsin, as well as Spearfish, SD. They returned to the Menomonie area in 1988. \r\nHe was an active member in the Red Cedar Antique Auto Club.\r\nHe is survived by five sons, Edward Connell of Wheeler, John (Connie) Price of Menomonie, Randy Price of Stoughton, Patrick Price of Boyceville and Clinton Price (Erin King) of Madison; three daughters, Marcia (Glenn) Standard of Prairie Farm, Lori (Rick) Vergin of Dallas, and Beth Ludens of Spearfish,SD; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.\r\nBill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Caroline; a daughter, Sarah Sutherland; a son, Victor L. Connell, two grandsons, Tad Connell and Aaron Price; two brothers, Charles and Walter, and his sister, Sarah Price\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, Eau Claire with Pastor Paul L. Pillman, the Pastor Care Consultant of the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
