Obituary

William C. "Bill" Van Riper, 48, of 2631 3rd Street, died Monday, June 24, 1996 at his home. He was born on November 15, 1947 in Plum City to Clifton and Evelyn (Bennett) Van Riper. He graduated from Spring Valley High School with the class of 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharge on March 17, 1970. Bill married Patrice M. "Patty" Orth on October 19, 1974 in Eau Claire. He worked at Eau Claire Meats in the maintenance department until retirement due to illness. Bill was a member of American Legion Post #207, Elmwood.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Patty; two sons, Guy and Erik; a daughter, Ellie all of Eau Claire; his mother, Evelyn of Woodville; a brother, Larry (Patty) of Woodville; two sisters, Karen (Les) Larson of Baldwin and Cindy (Scott) Gordon of Phoenix, AZ. \r\nBill was preceded in death by his father.\r\nHe will be sadly missed by his family and friends and his children will remember how he took time to play with them and their friends. \r\nFuneral Services will be at 1 P.M. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Father Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Hallie with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #53. Friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
