William E. Schorr, 80, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire. Bill was born on May 2, 1936, to Fred and Mildred (Bloomquist) Schorr in Ashland, WI. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1954 and from Northland College in 1958. While a student at Northland, he met fellow student Coral Dee Johnson of Siren, WI. They were married June 27, 1959, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Siren. Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1962. Following graduation, he was in private practice in Neillsville, WI, and was the Clark County District Attorney for two years. He then was employed as staff attorney for the Wisconsin Legislative Council. In June 1969, he became employed as an Administrative Law Judge by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Services. In August 1969, he and his family moved to Eau Claire. He retired in August 1996. William was sentimental and an incurable romantic. He enjoyed classical music, history – particularly the Civil War, reading, traveling, and was fond of his yearly fishing trips with his buddies. Bill had a quick wit, remarkable memory and an exceptional way with words. His friends will always remember him for his sense of humor and his sardonic, clever comments. He is survived by his wife, Coral Dee; son, Carl (Melissa) Schorr; his daughter, Jennifer (Arthur) Durkin; grandchildren, Bradley (Kelli) and Erika LeBakken, Madeline and Carlos Schorr; step-grandchildren, Christopher and Kathleen Durkin; great-grandchild, Lukas William LeBakken; and his niece, Melissa (Michael Johnson) Kinnunen. William is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Kinnunen; brother, George Schorr; and his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Carl Johnson. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Boulevard, Eau Claire, WI, with Pastor Brahm Semmler Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. Inurnment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
