Obituary

William "Bill" H. Woodford of Chippewa Falls, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Dove Healthcare - West. Bill was born in Eau Claire on July 4, 1942 to Henry and Eleanor (Evans) Woodford. Bill was a fun-loving guy, who really didn't take life very seriously. He graduated from Memorial High School with the class of 1960. He entered the US Army and was honorably discharged after serving 2 years and 3 months. After working in his father's garbage business, he held many different jobs tending bar at the Hilltop, Monarch, Wagners, 5 O'clock Club, Hugdahl, Mieder, Uptown, Inner Office and finally Stafne's Sunset Inn, where he was the bar manager. After moving to San Antonio, Texas for almost 30 years, he retired and moved back to the Eau Claire area, with the intention of spending the winters in Texas and Arizona with friends. While that lasted for 2 or 3 years, it was interrupted by a 6 year stay here taking care of his friend, Betty Andrus. Bill loved taking the "Stafne Gang" out to lunch every summer, when he was back here from San Antonio on vacation after he retired and lived here, even Tess (Stafne's owner) would go along. They would all sit and talk about the things they talked about the year before. He especially enjoyed his "own" meals on wheels or feet! Along with, every year even before he retired when his fried Joe was here, he would put on a huge Mexican Enchilada party. Bill is survived by his brothers; Dick, Tim (Pam), David (Rene) and John (Debbie); sisters, Connie, Sally (Blaine) and Mary (Don); sister-in-law, Mary; many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends all over the country. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eleanor; brother, Bob; his beloved dog Orie who was homeless in San Antonio, and won the puppy lottery with Bill; his best friend, Joe from San Antonio, who came up every year even before he retired, who was dearly loved by the family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3715 London Road, Eau Claire, WI, with Reverend Paul Webber officiating.
