Obituary

WINIFRED R. "WINNIE" GIBSON, 45, of 3712 Glen Crest Ct., died Tuesday, March 11, 1997 at her home. She was born March 24, 1951 to John and Dorothy (Sells) Wreford in Canton,Ohio. Winnie moved with her family to Dodgeville and then Chippewa Falls where she graduated with the Class of 1969. In 1973 she received her Degree in Education from UWEC. It was there she met her husband, J. Craig Gibson, they were married in Eau Claire on June 23, 1973. .From 1972 to 1983, she taught at the elementary and middle schools in Chippewa Falls. Winnie worked in the Eau Claire Public School System beginning at Boyd Elementary in 1985. She taught at Mt. Washington and then Meadowview school where she most recently was a Community of Learners Multiage Teacher until retiring due to illness in 1996. \r\nShe served on the Board of Directors of Young Life, the Wisconsin Math Council, was a member of the Eau Claire Junior League and Chapel Heights United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Craig; two children, Joshua and Annie; parents, Rev. John and Dorothy Wreford of Eau Claire; two brothers, Ray and David both of Madison; a sister, Joanne "Joey" (Dan) Wilson of Menomonie; mother-in-law, Doris Gibson of Menomonie; two sisters-in-law, Jackie (Marv) Hillman and Joan (Stan) Labs both of Menomonie; eight nieces and nephews, Susie and Brian Hillman, Sonia and Beth Labs, Mark and Paul Mullen, Luke and Jacob Wilson.\r\nWinnie will always be remembered for her caring, giving ways. She maintained a sense of humor in all situations and made the best of all circumstances. Win had a love for children that was unconditional and touched many. Her deep faith sustained her throughout her battle with cancer and she will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends.\r\nMemorial Services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday at Chapel Heights United Methodist Church, with Pastor Thomas A. Lambrecht officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home. There will be no viewing at the church.\r\nIn lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to:-Young Life-P.O.
