Obituary

Yvonne C. Martin, 73, of Eau Claire died unexpectedly Saturday, November 15, 2003 at her home. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 22, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Suzanne (Noppe) Wouters. She attended high school two years in Wheaton, IL and then moved to Ladysmith and graduated from high school there.\r\nShe married F.E. "Hank" Martin in 1948 in Ladysmith.\r\nYvonne was chosen Mardi Gras Queen in Ladysmith in 1949. Her family moved to Eau Claire in 1961. \r\nShe was very active in the Sherman School P.T.A. and along with her friends, Jean Flynn and Lois Gilbert, initiated the development of the Sherman Creek Park.\r\nYvonne was an accomplished fine artist and active in the Eau Claire Art League for many years. She was a member of Unity Christ Center, and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed attending dances around the state and traveling throughout North America and Europe. She enjoyed cooking and planning special gatherings for her family.\r\nYvonne was the core of her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.\r\nYvonne is survived by her mother, Suzanne Wouters of Ladysmith; three sons, Michael (Linda) Martin of Rice Lake, Greg (Julie) Martin, Steve Martin and their father, Hank Martin and a grandson, Chris Martin all of Eau Claire; a cousin, Shirley (Dick) Brockbank of Ladysmith. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her father, Edward Wouters.\r\nFuneral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Unity Christ Center at 1808 Folsom St., Eau Claire with Sandra McKinney as Spiritual Leader. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the Center. Eau Claire Women of the Moose Chapter #557 will conduct Moose Rites at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith at 11 a.m. Thursday.
