Obituary

Zelma H. Dahl, 90, of Eau Claire died on Monday, November 4, 2013, at Dove Healthcare West. Zelma was born on November 27, 1922, in rural Merrillan, WI, to Frank H. and Lydia C. (Will) Johnston. She attended Fairchild High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. Zelma married Otis Dahl on July 17, 1943, in Alma Center. After living in Black River Falls for 16 years the family moved to Eau Claire in 1965. Zelma was a homemaker and together with Otis they had five children. Zelma was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard where she was active with the church activities especially the quilting group. Zelma is survived by her husband of 70 years, Otis; sons, Gordon (Carol) Dahl of Burlington, WA, and Mike (Jackie) Dahl of Eau Claire; daughter, Sharon (Joel) Radke of Menomonie; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Erik, Libbie and Aubree Dahl, Mark (Lori) and Craig Radke, Jessica Dahl and Kelce Gold; two great-grandchildren, Mikenna and Travis Radke; sisters, Alyce Gearing of Neillsville, and Lilas Durost of Eau Claire; brothers, Franklin (Eunice) Johnston of Eau Claire, Lester Johnston of Alpine, CA, and Mickey (Joyce) Johnston of Feasterville, PA; sister-in law, Sonna Johnston of TX. Zelma is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Daniel (in infancy) and John Dahl; sister, Mabel Jones; brother, Henry Johnston; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Johnston. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, 1120 Cedar St. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Michael Wollman officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. up until the time of services at the church on Monday. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hill Crest Cemetery in the Town of Garfield, WI. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services is serving her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, American Cancer Society, 2519 N. Hillcrest Pkwy. Suite #100, Altoona, WI 54720-2589 or the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of all Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire and Dove Healthcare West for their care of Zelma.
