Anna Gullikson Obituary

Anna (Becker) Gullikson, age 88, passed into eternal life on February 14, 2015. She was born to George and Susan (Nichols) Becker on June 21, 1926. Her early years were spent on her parents’ farm near Mondovi, where she developed a lifelong love for planting and growing, nature, and life in the country. She attended Anthony School for grades one through eight, and graduated from Mondovi High School in 1944. She then moved to Eau Claire, where she did office work at International Harvester Company and Presto. She soon caught the eye of a young man, Gustav (Gus) Gullikson, and they married on September 23, 1946. Their family grew to include six children: Kay, Karen, Kerry, Julie, Janet, and Jill. “Ann”, as she became known, enjoyed being a mother and her life was centered around her family. She encouraged and supported her children and their friends in all their school and outside activities, and her home became a gathering place where all were welcome. Later, as “Grandma Ann”, she and her grandchildren spent many hours making special projects and creating priceless memories with her and “Grandpa Gus”. Throughout her life, Ann demonstrated an unwavering faith and was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and was a member of a ladies circle. She was especially proud of the many quilts her group made for Lutheran World Relief. For the past four years, “Sweet Annie” made her home at Grace Edgewood Assisted Living in Altoona. There she received loving care from staff members who truly became part of her family. We thank them all for their kind and gentle care. Ann is survived by her daughters, Karen (Michael) Baker, Julie Gullikson, Janet White, and Jill (Clayton) Fulgione; son, Kerry Gullikson; son-in-law, Tim (Mary) Hertzfeldt; brother, Duttee Becker; brother-in-law, Gary (Jan) Gullikson; and sisters-in-law, Betty Becker and Betty Douville. Her family also includes grandchildren, Michael (Heidi) Hertzfeldt, Matthew (Meghan) Hertzfeldt, Megan Baker, Tore Baker, Mercedes and Myrissa Fulgione, Tiffany (Frank) Antenucci, Nyssa (Jon) Christie, Richard (Michelle) White, Liesl (T.J.) Kern, Anna White, Thomas, Gregory, Stephen, William, Robert, and Johannes White; and great-grandchildren, Alison and Parker Hertzfeldt and Aubree and Sierra White. She will be dearly missed as well by her special neighbor, Donna Phelps, and many other relatives and friends. Ann was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Gus, in 1999; daughter, Kay Ann Hertzfeldt in 1986; son-in-law, James White; sisters, Evelyn (Edward) Rud and Goldia (Elton) Talford; brother, Donald Becker; a number of sisters and brothers–in-law; and other relatives. The family suggests memorials in Ann’s name to Hope Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., in Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane in Eau Claire with Pastor Richard Lund officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington.
