Charlotte Winter Obituary

Charlotte L. Winter, age 98, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Dove Healthcare West. She was born in Eau Claire, on September 20, 1916, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Jacot) McMahan. Charlotte married Frank C. Winter on September 8, 1937, in Eau Claire. Charlotte graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1934. She spent her last working years at the State of Wisconsin Unemployment Office. She was very proud of her selection as a charter member of the Eau Claire Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. Her bowling friends became lifelong friends that extended long after the bowling years. She loved to watch baseball and golf on television and spent many happy hours cheering for golfer Phil Mickelson and the Braves, both in Milwaukee and Atlanta. Charlotte also enjoyed camping and gardening. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Connie Korger of Green Bay; sister, Leona Winter of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Lynn Hinrichs, Eric (Sheryl) Toop, Greg Korger, Kelly (Nate) Lieser, and Tania (Brett) Erdmann; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary; husband, Frank; daughter, Vonnie Toop; sisters, Evaline Parkhurst and Myrtle Parkhurst; and brother, Kenneth McMahan. Visitation will be held from Noon to 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 2124 Eastridge Center, in Eau Claire. A Memorial Service will be at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Rolf Nestingen officiating. Spring Interment will be in Brunswick Cemetery, Town of Brunswick, WI. The family would like to thank the staff of Dove Health Care West for their care and support during the years Charlotte was in their care.
