Evelyn Jaeger Tealey, age 103, widow of Earl Tealey, died, Thursday, May 7, 2015, at her home in Eau Claire. She was born on October 19, 1911, in the ninth ward of Eau Claire. Evelyn was the youngest daughter of the late Ole Paul Jaeger and Emma Christopherson Jaeger of Eau Claire. Evelyn was a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High and Eau Claire State Teachers College (now UW-Eau Claire). She taught first grade for many years at Lincoln Elementary School before her marriage on August 7, 1941. She and Earl were married for 57 years. After Earl's retirement from the Eau Claire school system, they spent winters in southern Texas. Evelyn became very involved in community groups including Eau Claire Women's Club, Eau Claire Music Club, Eau Claire Sewing Club, church circles and also accumulated many close friends in the community during her lifetime. After retirement, she and Earl audited several classes at UW-Eau Claire. They were also charter members of the "Monday Night Swingers" at Lowes Creek Golf Course in Eau Claire. They were at one time members of 4 golf leagues and played both at Lowes Creek and Lake Hallie Golf Course. In addition, she was an excellent seamstress and won a state award for her design and making of a particular outfit. Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Dr. Alice Gasque (Dr. Tom) of Columbia, SC; and two sons, Tom Tealey of Eau Claire and Fred (Jane) Tealey of Wausau; two granddaughters, Susanna Gasque (Chris) White of Columbia, SC, and Alison (Juan) Tealey Simón of Wausau, WI; two great-grandsons, Preston White of Columbia and Fernando Simón of Wausau; and a great-granddaughter, Mayabella Simón. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Dr. Herbert (Lori) Nygren, Sonja (Wayne) Munson, Arick (Connie) Tealey, David Jaeger, Walter (Jill) Jaeger Jr., and Debbie Christopherson. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Paul (Ida) Jaeger and Walter (Violet) Jaeger; and two sisters, Hazel (Dr. Herbert) Nygren and Cornelia (Horace) Jaeger Gonstead. Visitation will be at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015, with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m., with Pastor Dean Simpson officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
