Everett Berg Obituary

Everett D. Berg, 88, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Oakridge Hospital in Osseo, WI. He suffered a fall on July 16, 2018. He was born to Carl “Edwin” and Cora (Larson) Berg on November 21, 1929. There were three siblings, Loraine Narva, John Berg and Tom Berg, all had preceded Everett in death. Everett was proud of having served in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees and was a First Class Petty Officer. He met his wife, Ann C. Rasmusson, on a blind date and were married on March 17, 1956. They were blessed with 62 years together. Two sons were born to the couple, Leslie (deceased) and Lane. Everett was a “City of Whitehall” employee for 34 years, mainly with the Sewer & Water Department. He won the Wisconsin Wastewater Operator of the Year Award. Everett was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall, serving as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department. Although facing many health problems, he was cheerful, upbeat, thoughtful, and a kind loving person. Everett is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Lane (Amy) Berg; two grandsons, Thane and Andrew (Jenni) Berg; two great-granddaughters, Ellie Schroeder and Hadley Berg; daughter-in-law, Lori Berg; sister-in-law, Joyce Berg; three brothers-in-law, Ralph (Ellen), James, and Mark (Sharon) Rasmusson. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lindy Leigh Berg; and parents-in-law, Ralph and Tina Rasmusson The family wishes to thank the medical personnel at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire, Critical Care and 5th Floor, and Swing Bed at Mayo Clinic Health System-Oakridge in Osseo. We are so thankful for your outstanding care, patience and concern. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the working persons and residents at Good Shepherd Senior Apartments and to “special” friends, Lee and Rick Reetz, for always being there for us. In keeping with Everett’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Private family interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall, WI, at a later date.
