Gary G. Kleist

Gary G. Kleist, 79, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. He was born on December 31, 1936, in Eau Claire, a son of Norman and Ruth (Shepler) Kleist. Gary married Mona Shafer on June 6, 1955 in Eau Claire. He later married Nancy Knutson-Semingson on March 17, 1992, in Baraboo. Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and spending time with his family. Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Kathy Kleist, Gary Kleist, Karen Hair, Lorrie Kleist, Sue Hobart, Stephanie Semingson-Heller, Michael Semingson and Jack Semingson; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Don Swagger; sister, Judie Erickson of Eau Claire; brother, Farrel “Tim” (Romel) Kleist of Menomonie. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christine Swagger; sister, Barbara Ann Thompson; two brothers, Bruce and Norman Kleist. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue in Eau Claire, with Pastoral Associate Sharon Sterns officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from Noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service, Monday, at the funeral home.
