Gerald Leroy Colburn

Gerald "Jerry" Colburn, 87, of Eau Claire, WI passed away on September 28, 2023 in his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 24, 1936 in Stanley, WI to Charles and Mabel (Fjelstad) Colburn.

In his younger years he washed cars for his dad’s car dealership where he later became the bookkeeper. Jerry graduated from Stanley High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from UWEC, eventually working for UniRoyal as an industrial engineer.

Jerry married Sharon J. Munson in Strum, WI on December 6, 1969 in a snowstorm that blanketed the streets white. Together they raised two sons, Craig and Chadwick Colburn. Jerry served in the National Guard during the Berlin Crisis, and was an active member of the local Masonic Lodge. He was also a devout member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, which he attended for the past 50 years. Jerry’s hobbies included hunting and photography; all ways to capture a memory. He collected cameras throughout his life and loved his art. He also loved maintaining cars, keeping them in top condition, and kept a lawn to be proud of. His favorite hobby was having a cup of coffee with friends; one of life’s most simple and beautiful treasures.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Colburn; his sons, Craig Colburn and Chadwich Colburn; his brothers, Norman (Pat) Colburn, and Don Colburn; as well as his sister Patti (Jon) Hehli.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mabel Colburn; and his sisters, Sharon Clark and Jeanne (Jim) Reppe.

A Memorial Service will be held for Jerry on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior until the time of service. Burial will take place at a later date.
