Jerome Hanson Obituary

Jerome (Joe) C. Hanson,
April 22, 1933-November 7, 2021
Jerome C. Hanson was called home early Sunday morning on November 7th. He wasted no one's time and left peacefully. Just the way he wanted.
Joe Hanson was preceded in death by his parents; Norman and Olive Hanson of Elk Mound, his sister, Gloria, and brother, Glen. He was also preceded by his nephew Mark and his great grandson Eric Davis.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Sharon Lea Hanson. They have five children; Larry (Janet) Worthington, IA; Connie (Jeff) Stanley, WI; Darrel (Missy) Elk Mound, WI; Kathryn and David Chavis of Puyallup, WA; Kevin and Jenny Hanson of Eau Claire, WI. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Kari, Melissa, Megan, Sarah, Samantha, Austin, Ryan, Gavin, Kayla, Devon, Carmon and 15 great grandchildren.
Joe was born in Eau Claire on April 22, 1933, and raised on his family's farm. He continued to work there helping his father and later his eldest son with chores and field work. If there was work to be done on the farm, Joe was there.
He attended Elk Mound Schools from K-12, graduating in 1951. He loved playing baseball and basketball. Not long after graduating, he took a job driving bus for the Elk Mound School District. He also took a fulltime position working as a Janitor for the Elk Mound School District. He worked full time as a Janitor for 43 years. He drove School Bus for a total of 20 years. All of his time at EMSD was at the original school building which is now the middle school. He probably would still be there today, but he fell and broke his hip while at work in 2001. Yes, he was dedicated to his work.
One of our favorite things about Dad is how he loved to laugh. He loved to tell jokes, but he was so bad at it! He started laughing before he could get the joke out! But we loved him for it. And we laughed with him.
Joe was very active in being a grandfather. He attended as many activities and events as possible with each grandchild who attended Elk Mound Schools. He also was very supportive in helping out with childcare or anything that was needed in the family. He often spoiled the grandchildren beyond repair with McDonalds!
Rest in peace, Dad. We love you so much.
