Joan Carol Hill

Joan C. Hill, 86, of Altoona, died Monday, September 25, 2023, at Grace Communities, River Pines Nursing facility, with family by her side.

Joan was born to Lucille and Mencile Anderson on October 18,1936, in Eau Claire, WI. Joan attended and graduated from Eau Claire High School, where she was involved in the Girls Reserve, during High School.

She married Charles V. Hill Sr, September 24, 1955, in Eau Claire, WI, at First Lutheran Church. This church was where Joan grew up attending and learning to love Jesus. While Charles served his country, Joan raised their 4 children and volunteered within the U.S. Air Force. Later she attended Tech school for Floral design. After Tech school, she shared her talents at many floral shops in California and Wisconsin, including Dee's Floral Shop, Ca, Chippewa Falls Floral, Eau Claire Floral, May's Floral, Kerm's and Pick and Save, all located in WI.

Joan loved to garden, both flowers and vegetables. Other hobbies included ceramics, Artex painting, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. Joan had a love for animals, which they had many pets over the years.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nancy Caldwell and brother-in-law, Neil Whitted.

Joan is survived by her children; Charles Jr (Jean), Eau Claire, Cindy Donnelly (Mark), Eau Claire, Christopher (Cynthia), Placerville, CA, Craig (Krystena), Eau Claire; sister, Karen Whitted, Eau Claire and brother-in-law, Pat Caldwell of Canada; grandchildren, Stacey Setzer, Erin (Brad) Odegard, Ali Hill (Maddy Dokkestul), all of Eau Claire, Makenzie Campbell (Pete), lone, CA, Zachary Hill, Placerville, CA, Rebekah Martinez (Alex), Appleton, WI, Andrew Donnelly, Eau Claire, Sujay Donnelly, Eau Claire; great-grandchildren, Mookie Odegard, Eau Claire, Morgan Dokkestul, Eau Claire, Ayra Campbell, lone, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease or Eau Claire Humane Society building fund, for their new building.

The family of Joan would like to thank, Mayo Hospice, staff at Grace Communities, River Pines, for all the care and love that was given to Joan and her family.

Celebration of life will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 3735 Jeffers Road, Eau Claire, WI, with Pastor David Irgens and Pastor David Kallenback officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, October 17, at the church and again one hour before the church services. Inurnment will be at a later date, beside Charles, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Beaver Brook Township, near Spooner, WI.
