Joyce M. Bowman, a cherished wife, mother, Grandma and sister, passed away on October 19 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on February 11 1941, in Eau Claire, WI, to Richard and Gertrude Frank. Joyce spent her entire life in Eau Claire and formed lifelong connections with her community.
Joyce's loving husband, Clifford (Pete) Bowman, was her steadfast companion throughout their beautiful journey together. They were united in marriage on August 27, 1960, and their bond was a testament to enduring love and commitment.
As a mother, Joyce poured her heart into raising her children and nurturing their growth. She is survived by her children, Christine Steahr (Matthew), Kathy Stephan (Rich), Margie Kleinschmidt (Tim), and Peter Bowman. Joyce's love and guidance shaped the lives of her children, and she will forever be remembered as a devoted and caring mother.
Joyce's infant daughter, Ann Marie, preceded her in death.
Joyce was blessed with siblings who shared a special bond with her. She is survived by her brothers, Dick Frank (Judy) and Tom Frank (Diane) as well as her sisters, Sue Miller (Dave) and Mary Thiede (Tom) She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Meservey. The memories and shared experiences with her siblings created a profound connection that will endure.
Professionally, Joyce worked as a librarian at Immaculate Conception School, where she dedicated herself to fostering a love for learning and the joy of reading in young minds. Her commitment to education and her nurturing spirit made her a beloved figure within the school community.
Outside of her professional life, Joyce found immense joy in her hobbies. She had a passion for reading, which enriched her life and allowed her to explore new worlds through the written word. Joyce's artistic talents found expression in her paintings, where she poured her creativity onto the canvas. Gardening was another beloved pastime, and she found solace and beauty in tending to her plants and flowers.
Joyce's story would not be complete without a mention of her love of music. Joyce embraced all types of music, played the organ and the piano. Joyce enjoyed the two choirs she sang in and loved to spread joy through the music she sang.
Joyce was blessed with the gift of grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy into her life. She leaves behind cherished memories to her grandchildren, William Steahr (Sarah), Julia Stephan, Aaron Stephan, Sara Stephan, Gretchen Kleinschmidt, Annalise Kleinschmidt, Kase Kleinschmidt, Ahna Bowman and Hunter Bowman. Additionally, she had the joy of being a great-grandmother to Ryan Steahr, whose presence brought her immense happiness.
Joyce's granddaughter, Sara Stephan, preceded her in death. While her absence leaves a void, her memory will forever be cherished by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am, Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Church, 1712 Highland Ave, Eau Claire, with Fr. Francis Thadathil officiating. A celebration of life, will be from 10am up until the time of Mass, at the church. Lunch to follow Mass, burial will occur at a later date. Family and friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and find comfort in their shared love and support.
