Kathryn "Kay" Jane (Kruger) Tubbs

Kathryn “Kay” Tubbs, age 87, formerly of the Town of Spring Brook, Good Shepherd Senior Apartments in Eau Claire, and most recently Heritage Assisted Living, died peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

Kay was born May 26, 1936 to Paul and Inez Kruger in Eau Claire, WI. She married Roger L. Tubbs on August 25, 1962 and the couple shared over 61 years of marriage together. 

Kay was a very detailed person with a good mind for numbers, which led to becoming treasurer and clerk for the Town of Spring Brook, the Dunn County Clerk of Courts, being treasurer for Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound and working at American Girl. She was an active knitter and quilter, regularly making mittens to donate, and along with her daughter, made quilts and baby blankets for those in need. She enjoyed reading, camping, square dancing with the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club and taking bus trips all over the country with her husband. She loved spending time with her friends and family and was almost always the last to leave as she enjoyed lively conversations and connecting with those around her.

Kay is survived by her husband, Roger, of Eau Claire, her three children, Dennis (Polly) Tubbs of Arena, Amy Tubbs of Pulaski, Christopher (Kelly Jo Brick) Tubbs of Los Angeles and her brother William “Bill” Kruger of Eau Claire; and her nieces, Jill (Eric Riha) Reiter of New York City, Suzanne (David) Buckley and their children Cheyenne and Daniel of Leander, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Judith “Judy” Kruger of Leander, TX.

The family wishes to thank the nurses at Mayo Hospital, caregivers at Heritage Assisted Living as well as the staff and residents of Good Shepherd Senior Apartments for their care, concern and help.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, December 29 from 1-3pm at Bertelsen Hall at Good Shepherd Senior Apartments, 3304 14th St. in Eau Claire.
