Kristine Kathleen (Meindel) Hawke lost the good fight to cancer on October 21, 2023, in Eau Claire, WI at the age of 75. She was surrounded by her loving family until the bitter-sweet end.
Kris was born on September 5, 1948 in Eau Claire, WI to Donald and Margaret Meindel. She graduated from North High School in 1966 and from CVTC with a degree in Accredited Record Transcription. She married Benjamin F Hawke Jr, the love of her life in 1968 and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on November 1st. Living in Chippewa Falls, WI she spent most of her career working for Marshfield Clinic. For many years, up until two weeks prior to passing, it was her pleasure volunteering for the Open-Door Clinic in Chippewa Falls, WI. Over a period of nine years they welcomed five amazing children into their home raising them with strong work ethics, integrity, kindness and above anything thing else THE BEST family values. Her children will remember her as the backbone of her family, the kindest most giving soul and fun and loving grandmother.
Kris enjoyed traveling with her husband Ben on long drives across the country looking at the fall colors and visiting numerous National Parks. She also enjoyed traveling anywhere tropical with her family with St. Martin being her favorite. She enjoyed the mountains and Canada just the same, with Banff at the top of her list. She enjoyed gardening, putting puzzles together, playing cribbage and games, fishing, camping, bird watching and at one point water skiing.
Kris is survived by her loving husband, Ben; children, Krista Hawke, Shayne Hawke (Kelly Martin-Hazelton), Ericka Ranney (Matthew Ranney), Danielle Hawke (Jeff Michels), Jeremy Hawke (Jennifer Hawke); her sister, Vicki Halida (Walter), thirteen wonderful grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
