Lorraine Gilboy Obituary

Lorraine J. “Lolly” Gilboy, age 89, of Eau Claire, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019, at The Classic at Hillcrest Greens, Altoona, under the care of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice, surrounded by her family. Lolly was born on March 9, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to the late John and Julia (Haske) Kryza. She attended St. Josaphat Grammar and High School. Lolly met Ernest “Bud” Gilboy while babysitting for his sister’s children. They were married on September 17, 1949, at St. Bonaventure Church in Chicago. They then moved to Eau Claire and raised their three children. Lolly began her retail career at Eau Claire Toyland. From there, she went to Nelson’s Card and Gift and The Lantern. She ended her career at Putnam Heights Pharmacy. Lolly was a charter member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church. She was in the Rosary Confraternity and held the position of the Sunshine Lady. Through this role, Lolly sent cards and well wishes to parishioners at Sacred Heart Hospital for 50 years. Lolly enjoyed attending Mass every day at Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel and stayed for coffee afterward. She also enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking, family gatherings, and decorating her home for the holidays. She liked to watch sports – including March Madness. Lolly always attended her grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. Lolly is survived by her three children, Karen (Tim) Riggs of Lake Holcombe, John (Joanne) Gilboy of Eau Claire, and Bev (Mike) Schmitt of Lake Holcombe; grandchildren, Abby (Eric) Gulseth, Kate (Andrew Nord) Gilboy, Mike Gilboy, Sara (James) Scott, Margaret Riggs, Pat (Katrina) Schmitt, Allison (Darren) Frawley, Tom Schmitt; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Carson, Tanner, Aubrey, Ingrid, Mira, Ben, Grayson, and a baby on the way; sisters-in-law, Marge Diederich and Alice Gilchrist; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bud; parents; brothers, Walter Renusch, Chester Kryza, and John “Jack” Kryza; and great-granddaughters, Grace and McKenna. Lolly’s family would like to thank the staff at The Classic at Hillcrest Greens and Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care.
