Marjorie A. Severson, 85, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was born in Eau Claire on April 23, 1929, the daughter of Leonard and Elgie (Sneen) Thompson. Marjorie married Harold R. Severson on June 6, 1948, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and they spent their honeymoon in the Birchwood, WI area. During their 56 years together, they shared many campfires with family and friends at Echo Bay resort and also spent countless hours fishing at Squaw Creek. Marjorie was a homemaker. She also provided daycare to large number of children for 20 years. She was a wonderful baker and made the best cinnamon rolls we ever ate. Marjorie was an avid reader which she passed on to her children. She also logged hundreds of miles walking the countryside near her home and around the lake at Birchwood. She is survived by her son Loren (Elva) Severson of Eau Claire; three daughters, Lynne (Ron) Zimmerman and Kay Severson, both of Fall Creek, and Jennifer Mitchell of Altoona; three brothers, Gerald Thompson of Colby, Douglas Thompson and Steven (Pam) Thompson both of Eau Claire, nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her daughter, Dawn Severson and her grandson, Richard Severson. A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015, at Valleybrook Church, 412 S. Barstow St, in Eau Claire with Mary Clark officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
