Marvin Arnold Niese, 82, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, died peacefully on July 11, 2023, of com-plications from cancer, while under the care of hospice. Marvin was born October 6, 1940, in North Tonawanda, New York, to William and Leona Niese. Marvin graduated from North To-nawanda High School and then attended Cornell University and University at Buffalo School of Law. He spent the majority of his career working in personnel management for school districts and government agencies in New York and Wisconsin, including nearly two decades as Person-nel Director for Eau Claire County.
Marvin and Mary Helen (Kelly) were married on September 10, 1971, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Kenmore, New York. They had three sons: Andrew, Martin, and Joseph. The family lived for several years in Guilderland, New York, before moving briefly to West Bend, Wisconsin, and then Eau Claire. Besides being devoted to his family, Marvin found joy in read-ing and adding to his personal library. He loved history, and had a particularly in-depth knowledge and passion for World War II.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary, of Eau Claire, son, Andy (Brandie), of Eau Claire, son, Joe (Sara) of Chippewa Falls, grandchildren: Allison (Riley), Lilly, Oliver, Evelyn, and Henry, siblings: brother, William (Ann), and sister, Ruth (David), numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents: William and Leona, and son, Martin.
A private memorial service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
