Patricia A. (Campbell) Hanson, 94, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023 at the Heritage Senior Living facility.
Patricia was born on April 24, 1929, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, the daughter of Charles A. and Lillie M. (Olson) Campbell. She attended the Fourth Ward School in Shawtown and the local junior high and public high schools, graduating from Eau Claire Senior High in 1947. She attended classes at UW-Eau Claire and graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul in 1951.
Pat taught school in Hastings, MN and Eleva-Strum Central, and later did substitute teaching when the family was grown.
Patricia married Allan Hanson at Grace Lutheran Church on June 14, 1952. Patricia is survived by their three sons and their families: Stephen (Cheryl) of Waukesha, Paul (Liane) of Greenfield, and David (Mary) of Eau Claire. She called her six grandchildren her "precious gems" - namely Scott, Kristen, Jamie, Lisa, Joshua, and Jennifer. The family continued with Scott marrying Melissa, Kristen marrying Christopher Greig, Lisa marrying Eric Bruecker, Joshua marrying Angela, and Jennifer marrying Brian Czisny. She was further blessed with great-grandchildren, including Austin, Jackson and Hunter Hanson (Delafield); Elijah and Brianna Greig (Waukesha); Evan, Alexa, and Gavin Bruecker (Coral Springs, FL); and Aiden, Carson, and Ethan Hanson (Altoona).
Allan and Pat enjoyed the best of both worlds; winters in Naples, Florida and summers in Eau Claire. They cherished their friends who were very special to them. Besides golfing, Pat enjoyed swimming and walking along the beach and shelling. The family enjoyed camping and their cottages on Lake Eau Claire and later Lake Altoona.
Pat enjoyed her friends and the various organizations and activities at Trinity Lutheran Church including lefsa making, Altar Guild, Dorcas Circle, Bible Study, and choir. She always looked forward to the golf leagues, Putnum Heights Homemakers Club, her symphony girls, YMCA classes, Friends of Luther, and Samaritan Club.
She appreciated both of her heritages, taking pride in Scottish bag pipes and the tartan of the Campbell clan, and in Syttende Mai, the celebration of Norwegian independence.
Music was a big part of Pat's life. She sang in the public school choir, church choir and Macalester College Choir.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Allan, and brother, Richard. Following Allan's death, Pat resided at Oakwood Hills Senior Living for seven years and Heritage senior Living for the past seven months. She deeply appreciated her friendships with fellow residents and the kind treatment and care from the staff at both facilities and from Interim Hospice.
Funeral services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire at 11:00 a.m. on August 16, 2023, with Rev. Patrick Patterson officiating.
