Paul J Koller was a proud veteran of the United States Army, he was age 75 and had an unexpected battle with cancer that took him from his loved ones too soon. He passed away August 12, 2023 in Eau Claire, WI surrounded by family.
He was born June 25, 1948 to Joseph and Adelle (Lawrence) Koller. Paul grew up in Eau Claire, WI. He was confirmed at St James Catholic Church and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Lincoln School and graduated from Memorial High School class of 1966. After graduation Paul went to work on a Native American Reservation in Montana that his Uncle was a visiting Priest. He came back home to earn a degree in drafting at Eau Claire's Vocational school and worked at Mount Washington Nursing Home. Soon after he enlisted in the Army, he was posted in Virginia Beach, VA until he was needed in Vietnam for one tour. When Paul discharged from the Army he worked for Pope & Talbot in Eau Claire, WI for a short time then at American Motors in Kenosha for 20 yrs. When they closed, he drove truck for more than 20 yrs. Paul and a close friend started a moving company that was successful soon after he decided to retire from driving over the road. He was a proud lifetime member of VFW Post 7232.
Paul helped Eau Claire local Feed my people get off the ground and start up their food bank. He was always willing to lend a hand to many that needed one. He enjoyed taking friends out to lunch, run errands or help with honey do lists. He was an oldies car enthusiast and frequented many shows between Eau Claire and Milwaukee, WI where he entered and won trophies. Paul and Linda enjoyed vacationing and often started planning next year's vacation before the current vacation was through. Paul enjoyed bowling in his younger years. He hunted each fall and fished each summer. Paul and Linda planned their calendar around music festivals, car shows and fairs. Paul was an avid sports follower; he enjoyed cheering for his WI teams, Packers, Brewers, Badgers and followed car racing too.
Paul is survived by his wife Linda (Buchholz) Koller, his daughter from his second marriage Jeri Koller of Franklin, WI. His Step Daughter Kathy Csongedi-Quinters of Eau Claire, WI. His 7 Step Grandchildren and 3 Step Great Grandchildren, his fur baby Teddy Bear, brother Greg (Roberta) Koller, sister Kathy (Ernie) Myers, nieces, nephews, many cousins and one special friend Marlene Lohr of Milwaukee, WI.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 10:30am at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 3735 Jeffers Road, Eau Claire, WI. Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30pm following the visitation at the church with Rev. David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post 7232.
