Robert L. Knott, age 82 of Eau Claire, died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Dove Heathcare West in Eau Claire. Bob was born to Lloyd and Myrtle (Hall) Knott in the town of Spring Brook, WI, on April 1, 1931. (He was always a gentleman to women, letting his twin-sister, Bonnie be born first on April Fools' Day.) He attended Waneka School in Dunn Co. WI. He later married Doris Thompson on September 27, 1953, at the Norden Lutheran Church in rural Eleva, WI. He worked at Gould National Battery, formerly known as White's Machine Works, for over 30 years. After they closed, he was self-employed as a painting contractor. Bob was very well known for his dancing, especially the Jitterbug with mom and his girls. He was a person that was very handy, fixing most anything. He was very proud of fixing and maintaining his cars and was always meticulous about his yard work. He had a very hearty laugh and enjoyed telling jokes. He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Doris were known as "Mr. and Mrs. Usher" at First Lutheran Church, ushering many Sundays for over 50 years. Bob is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Doris Knott; daughters, Carol (Keith) Knight, Linda Knott, and Shari (Mike) Radford all of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Joseph Knight, Crystal (Joe) Strauch, and Eric Knight; great-granddaughter, Lexie Strauch; sisters, Betty Larson, and Grace Patrick of Tacoma, WA, and his twin-sister, Bonnie Olson of Colfax, WI; brothers-in-law, James Thompson, Clarence Thompson, and Stanley Thompson; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Myrtle Knott; brother, John Knott; half-brothers, Fay and William Mikesell; half-sister, Marjorie Mikesell; and father and mother-in-law, Sever and Sena Thompson. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Dove Healthcare West for all their wonderful care given to Bob. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September, 10, 2013, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
