Spencer Voldness Obituary

SPENCER D. VOLDSNESS, 81, 1514 Fairway St., died Friday, July 7, 1995 at Grace Edgewood Apartments.\r\nSpencer was born June 2, 1914 to Iner and Martha (Matson) Voldsness in the Town of Chimney Rock, Trempeleau County. He married Elvina M. Johnson October 1, 1935 in Eleva. They moved to Eau Claire where Spencer worked at Uniroyal for 43 years, retiring in 1967. \r\nHe was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for over fifty years, where he served on the Church Council and was a member of the Building Committee. Spencer was a long-time member of the Sons of Norway, where he held various offices and served on numerous committees. He was very proud of his Norwegian heritage.\r\nSpencer will always be remembered for his love of family, church, photography, traveling, and for his great sense of humor and positive attitude.\r\nSurvivors include his wife of sixty years, Elvina; three daughters, Sharen (Ronald) Hoepner, Eau Claire, Dianne (Ronald) Powers, Eau Claire, Elaine (Gordon) Voss, Blaine, MN; a sister, Lylah (Joe) Olson, Strum; a brother, Wallace (Hazel) Voldsness, Eleva; 6 grandchildren, Brian and Erik Powers, Bill and Alisa Hoepner, all of Eau Claire, Kirsten and Greg (Kathleen) Voss, Minneapolis, MN; and two great-granddaughters, Taylor and Rachel Voss; several nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by an infant son and daughter, four sisters and three brothers.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Roland H. Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.\r\nFriends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Sons of Norway, Loven Lodge #29.
