William (Bill) D. Kuehn, 84, Eau Claire, died at home with family at his side on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023 after suffering several years from dementia. Bill was a loving, caring and supportive husband, father and grandfather.
The only child of William E. Kuehn and Luella (Rohlf) Kuehn, Bill was born Oct. 29, 1939. He graduated from Memorial H.S. in 1958 and went on to earn a B.S. and M.S. in Teaching from Wisconsin State University at Eau Claire (UWEC). Bill taught history for two years at Menomonie High School followed by social studies at North High School and De Long Junior High in Eau Claire for 30 years until his retirement in 1995.
Bill married Bonnie Johnson on July 30, 1960, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2023. Bill and Bonnie have been members of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for more than 55 years.
Bill was a true Wisconsin sports fan, especially Brewers, Badgers and Packers. Bill was a Green Bay Packer season ticket holder for many years. During his teaching years, Bill became an avid runner and completed 14 marathons, including two Boston Marathons and several triathlons. He was a member of the YMCA and Eau Claire Track Club for many years. He also enjoyed golf and was a member of the Mill Run Golf Course in Eau Claire for many years. Bill also enjoyed card club for more than 50 years. His wit and humor will be missed.
For 22 years in retirement, Bill and Bonnie enjoyed wintering in Panama City Beach, FL, where they met up with many other wonderful "snowbirds" from around the U.S.
Bill is survived by his wife, Bonnie, three children, Scott (Yvonne) of Eau Claire, Susan (Kyle) Schwarm of Madison, and Amy Brown of Eau Claire, along with seven grandchildren, Nicole and Heather Kuehn, Olivia Schwarm, Adam and Rachel Brown, Andrew Hinman and Zachary Kraimer, sister-in-law, Sonja (Bob) Wittwer, brother-in-law, Roger (Kay) Johnson and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Bill will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar Street, with Pastor Josh Toufar officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Arrangements were entrusted to Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services.
