Christene Strandt

Christena Strandt, age 101 of Eau Claire, died peacefully at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire, on August 8, 2014. She was born in Clara City, MN, on November 5, 1912, to Carl and Tillie (Kuiper) Janssen. Christena married Carl Strandt on January 9, 1934, in Ladysmith, WI. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. She was one of the founders of the Plymouth Quilters group. Christena spent many years doing seamstress projects for many businesses and individuals. She enjoyed shopping, sewing and most of all loved spending time with her family. Christena is survived by her daughter, Louise Partlow; brother, Ben (Ann) Sowaske; daughter-in-law, Ginger Winget; 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Robert and Donald; and siblings, John, Harold, Mildred, Carl, Carroll, Herbert, and Bill. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, 2010 W. Moholt Dr., Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor David Huber will be officiating. Private family interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be directed to Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ or to the Plymouth Quilters. The family would like to thank the Syverson Lutheran Home for all their compassion and care given to Christena.
