David A. Hillman

David A. Hillman, 71, of Eau Claire, died on Tuesday, November 04, 2014, at Dove Healthcare West under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. David was born in Eau Claire, on May 1, 1943, to Jesse G. and Arvilla E. (Miller) Hillman. David served in the U.S. Air Force from June, 1961, until his honorable discharge in April, 1965. On September 7, 1968, David married Shirley T. Wegner in Eau Claire. David worked as a police officer for the City of Eau Claire for 29 years, as well as served on the Chippewa County Board for 12 years. He was a member of the Eau Claire Masonic Lodge # 112, Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire, and was the first recipient of the Special Recognition Award. He was also active with the Chippewa County Historical Society and Chippewa County Genealogical Society. David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley; two daughters, Wendy (David) Smith and Theresa (Eric) Felton, both of Eau Claire; grandsons, Connor and Nash Felton; brother, Richard (Jackie) Hillman of Fairview Heights, IL; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jon Hillman; and grandparents. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the WEST CHAPEL of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire, with a Public Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the funeral home, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in the Village of Lake Hallie at a later date.
