Francis Koller Obituary

Francis R. Koller, 73, of Eau Claire, died suddenly Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the UW Madison Hospital, Madison, WI, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 4, 1942, to Robert and Isabel (Hayden) Koller of rural Lima. He was raised in Lima with the help of his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Koller, attended Lima School, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Francis married Marilyn Bauer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rock Falls, WI. Francis held many jobs, but was most proud of his service in the United States Army Reserves. He was dedicated to serving his community and his family. Francis was a member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus John F. Kennedy Council #1257, the American Legion Post #53, and the Eagles Club #2213. He served several years on the Eau Claire Youth Hockey Board, including a term as president and was awarded the Richard G. O’Brien Award for his outstanding support and dedication to Eau Claire Youth Hockey. Most recently, he could be seen at nearly all of his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was their number one fan. Francis will be dearly missed by his wife, Marilyn; two daughters, Shelly (Shawn) Chisamore, of Sharon, WI, and Carrie (Pat Berg) Koller, of Eau Claire, WI; two sons, Joe (Kim) Koller, of Eau Claire, WI, and David (Kristi) Koller, of Oshkosh, WI; three granddaughters, Isabel and Elly Chisamore, Mikaela Koller; six grandsons, Rees Chisamore, Joey, Jackson, and Carson Koller, Caleb and Jacob Koller; sister, Ann Marie Koller, of Oakdale, MN; brother, Galen (Cindy) Koller, of Durand, WI; sister-in-law, Lorraine Koller, of River Falls, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Francis is welcomed into Heaven by his parents; special aunt, Florence Koller; brother, Cletus Koller; grandson, Nathan Koller; and grandchild, Baby Chisamore. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St, Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, WI, with a public prayer vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, also one hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #53 following the mass. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Cemetery, in the township of Lima. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Eau Claire Youth Hockey, P.O. Box 1592, Eau Claire, WI 54701.
