Jeanne Walter Obituary

Jeanne E. Walter, 90, of the Town of Drammen, gave Heaven another Angel on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at her home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice, surrounded by her family. Jeanne was born in Eau Claire, WI, on May 5, 1924, a daughter of Archibald and Ann “Blanche” (Couture) Lund. Jeanne had worked as a secretary in Eau Claire, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where she served as a Yeoman 2nd Class from 1944 to 1946. Jeanne married Dr. Karl E. Walter on September 10, 1949, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Eau Claire. Jeanne was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Jeanne was an amazing wife, mother, “great” grandmother and friend. She was an avid sports fan, especially following the Minnesota Twins. Jeanne enjoyed golfing, hiking on the farm and gardening. She had a special place in her heart for all of God’s creatures, especially cats. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Dr. Karl E.; children, Barbara (Paul) Moldenhauer, Karl Walter, Mary (Stephen) Selz, and their children, Sean (Bridget), Christopher, Teresa (Matt) Downey, Matthew and Kathryn “Katie”; Margaret (Mark) Stolp, and their children, Mark (Sarah), Rebecka (Matt) Cooper, Rachelle (Ryan) Jack, Martha, Martin and Margaret; Anne Marie Walter, and her children, Monica and Christina; Kristine (Douglas) Robertson, and their children, Joshua and Andrew Nicolai, and Nathan; Martha (Lee) Jacobs, and their children, David and Elizabeth (Beau) Musch; Martin (Amanda) Walter, and their children, Tyler, Zephaniah and Shayna; and Monica (Robert) Kaner, and their children, Kyle and Natalie; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wallace Lund and Fr. Donald Lund; two grandchildren, Adam Stolp and Stephanie Selz; and all her beloved animals. Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 322 Fulton St. in Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 53. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Private Inurnment will be held at a later date. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving her family. The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and support through Jeanne’s battle with cancer, as well as to all of her caring friends and other caregivers.
