JoAnn Greuel Obituary

JoAnn Greuel, 89, was born August 28, 1924, in Newberry, MI, and died on July 6, 2014, in Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Myrtle Campbell; brother, Bill Campbell; husband El “Bud” Greuel; and her daughter, Sarah Layton. She grew up in Menomonie, graduated from Menomonie High School and attended UW-Stout. JoAnn and Bud were married in 1945, and together they moved to Eau Claire in 1955. She was a member of P.E.O., the Eau Claire Service League, Eau Claire Country Club and Christ Church Cathedral. She volunteered her time at Luther Hospital for many years. Her hobbies included golf, bridge and world travels with many great friends. JoAnn is survived by her sister, Dora Serfleck; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dave Robertson; son John Greuel; and son-in-law, George Layton; five grandchildren, Jeff (Kris), Greg (Tina), John (Donna) Robertson, Justin (Jessica) Greuel, and Colby Layton; five great-grandchildren, Lola and Sally Robertson, and Norah, Lucy and Henry Robertson; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to send a special thank you to the caregivers at Syverson Lutheran Home, especially Todd and Dan, her good buddies. Burial Office will be held at Noon, on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Christ Church Cathedral, 510 S. Farwell St. in Eau Claire. Visitation will be held one hour to the service on Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is assisting her family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire Hospital or Christ Church Cathedral.
