John “Jack” R. Jasper, 73, of Eau Claire was freed from his courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 2, 2017. He was surrounded by his family who comforted him throughout this difficult journey. Jack was born in Stanley, WI, on October 8, 1943, the son of Raymond and Lorraine (Ebben) Jasper. Jack married Betty Traaseth on July 18, 1966. They were married for 31 years until her death in 1998. Jack later married Sandra VandeLoo on June 20, 2009 at St. Olaf Catholic Church. Jack worked at Uniroyal for 28 years. In his retirement, he worked and golfed at Hallie Golf Course; a place he truly enjoyed. Jack touched the lives of many people. His heart was so kind and his spirit, so patient. Dear to his heart were spending time with his grandchildren, golfing and fishing with his buddies, and coaching youth sports. He coached youth football, Eau Claire Volunteers Girls Basketball, Husky Hoops and Eau Claire North Girls Basketball. Anyone that knew him, knew he was “at home” on the court. Jack is survived by his wife, Sandy; his three daughters, Lisa (Mark) Mayer, Brenda (Al) DeSouza, and Angie (Brady) Shepler all of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Alexis, Bennett, Daylon, Haley, Braxton, Caden, and Adelynn; brother, Chuck(Crystal) Jasper of Chippewa Falls; sister, Pam (Mike) Kammeyer of River Falls; step-children, Laurie (Todd) Edelman, Rick (Sarah) VandeLoo; Michael (Eneroliza) VandeLoo and step-grandchildren, Emily, Megan, Abby, Sam, Noah, Alex, Amaya, and Zoe; and many special friends.
