Kathleen Grimm Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” E. Grimm, age 79, of Eau Claire, WI, died, Tuesday, October 18, 2016 with family by her side at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire, WI. Kathy was born March 22, 1937 in Jamaica, New York to Reginald and Anna (Kiely) Fulton. She met David Grimm, Sr. while working as a “meat cutter” as was David. They were married October 4, 1975 at The Lutheran Church of the Foot Hills in Santa Barbara, CA. Kathy lived life to the fullest. She never sat still and took her time to settle down. She lived in New York, Virginia, California, and finally, Wisconsin where she and David, Sr. lived for the past thirty plus years. Kathy has a generous heart filled with love, happiness, and forgiveness. Her reward in life is seeing another person smile. She never wants to be the center of attention. She provides an open ear to others whether it is for guidance or venting. She energetically finds others to help other organizations in need, especially if it involves youth. Her sewing skills provide her the opportunity to create dolls of all sorts which she gives to neighborhood children and families. Her skills are enormous and most people refer to her respectfully as “the cookie lady”. When she thinks the moment calls for cookies, they are produced by the masses, and delivered by the gallon; simply to create smiles. She has an open door policy and cannot say no to anyone in need. Many find the home as a “safe” place for protection, guidance, companionship or to simply share a cookie. To put it in just a couple of words, “mom is a provider, modest, selfless person who loves all people and they in turn love her. Kathy is survived by her husband, David, Sr. of Eau Claire; four sons, Steven (Merlyn) Keefer of Yorktown, VA, Michael Grimm of Eau Claire, Chris Grimm of Newport News, VA and Dave Grimm, Jr. of Appleton, WI; three grandchildren, Christina and Jacob Grimm and Stacy (Jerry) Madsen; four great grandchildren, Americuss, Nevaeh, Andrew and Alyssa; best friend; Cleone (Gary) Cripe of Eau Claire, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Andrew; one sister, Bernadette; and three brothers, Reginald, Robert and Kenneth. The family would like to send a personal “Thank You” to Syverson Lutheran Home of Grace Communities. Each and every person provided comfort and Love until her passing…and still do. A Memorial Service will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar St, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Paul Opperdahl officiating.
