Marcia Jean Schoenrock

Marcia passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016, with her children by her side at The Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire, WI. Marcia loved books/reading, chocolate, word finds, Grumpy Cat, and reading the daily newspaper, but her greatest love was horses. She watched them as a girl in a pasture next to her school, and that love continued into her later years as she passionately followed the major horse racing events and read about the great horses in history. Marcia is survived by her children, Vicky, Pam, Karen, David and Daniel. She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Nelson of Rochester; and her grandchildren, Melissa Johnson and Samantha Schoenrock. She is preceded in death by her husband, James; her mother, Helen Nelson; aunt, Dorothy Byron; and her sister, Sally Nelson. Marcia was a delight to all who knew her. She worked as a Medical Records clerk in Rochester, MN, and then as a medical lab assistant and housekeeper before retiring in 2005 from the Clinic View Inn in Rochester, MN. Marcia then moved back to Eau Claire to be near her children, where she enjoyed family cookouts, ladies luncheons and bingo, her collectables, and weekly shopping trips with her daughter Karen, who provided endless support in her retirement years. The family would like to thank Dr. Fadi Sabbagh, special caregiver Athena Mittlestadt, and the wonderful staff at The Clairemont Nursing Home and St. Joseph's Hospice Services for making Marcia's final days peaceful and comfortable. Their care was exceptional. Burial will be at a later date in Rochester, MN. A celebration of life will be held at her home in Eau Claire this Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 1 pm.
