Ruth Opal Ostlie

Ruth O. Ostlie, age 90, of Eau Claire, WI, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Dove Healthcare West, in Eau Claire, WI. Ruth was born September 18, 1925 in Caledonia, MN, to Ole W. and Gina O (Morken) Myhre. She married Edwin O. Ostlie on April 16, 1948 in Lakeville, MN. Ruth’s joy in her life was her family. Watching her children and grandchildren grow gave her the smile of her life. Her belief in God, was the legacy she passed on to her children. She was active in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Eau Claire in WELCA, serving other members and non-members of her church and was also on the “prayer chain.” Ruth’s activities were raising a beautiful flower garden, sewing and quilting. She would also raise a large vegetable garden which she “harvested” each year and canned the bounty. It seemed she was always doing two or more things at the same time. She loved doing puzzles and her pet dogs in the past were a passion of hers. Ruth is survived by four children, Dennis (Mary) of Rice Lake, WI, Darryl of Eau Claire, WI, Tricia (Mel) Stone of Anoka, MN and Renee (Scott) Roemhild of Fall Creek, WI; eight grandchildren, Katie Ostlie, Melissa, Amanda, Derrick, and Rachel Stone, Aaron, Daniel and John Roemhild; five great grandchildren, Zach, Alex, Reece, Rylie and RaeAnn; one brother, Leland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin (2003); and eight siblings, Arnold, Stella, Gertrude, Lillian, Irene, Oren, Andrew and Viola. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Gail George officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire.
