Willard D. “Willie” Breden, 87, of Eau Claire, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at his residence. He was born on May 8, 1927, in Rock Creek, WI, to Anton and Julia (Kilde) Breden. After graduating from Eau Claire Senior High School he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater. He returned to Eau Claire and took a job at Presto Inc. A year later he started working at Uniroyal where he worked for 44 years building tires. Willard married Joan M. Johnson on October 30, 1948, in Eau Claire at Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his dog, Lucy. He was also a big Badger, Packer, and Brewer fan. Willard is survived by his two daughters, Julie (Tim) Sinz of Oregon, WI, and Barbara (Robert Wegner) Breden of Altoona; two grandchildren, Matthew Sinz and Heidi (Andy) Bradish; brother, Allan (Patricia) Breden; sister-in-law, Norma Heaviland; many nieces and nephews; and his poodle, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan in 2010; parents; and siblings, Alma Anderson, Ella Shafer, Orville Breden, Esther Bartniczak, Richard Breden, and Harold Breden. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 2124 Eastridge Center in Eau Claire with Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 53.
